BA (Hons) Music Production Pathway in Barcelona

Pathway to Earn a Prestigious UK BA (Hons) Degree

Students may choose to specialise in Music Production and Sound Engineering, Electronic Music Production, or Songwriting and Production. Academic learning is delivered either at the student hub in Barcelona or through remote instruction led by UK‑based module leaders. Local Garnish hubs provide additional support, offering opportunities for in‑person collaboration, peer networking, and access to academic guidance within a global community of creative practitioners.

All teaching is conducted in English, with qualifications recognised internationally. In the final year, students progress to a BA (Hons) degree through one of Garnish’s partner universities, with the option of completing their studies either on campus or online.

Level 4: Extended Diploma in Music Production (120 credits)

This programme offers a comprehensive foundation in recording, mixing, mastering, and creative composition. Students acquire technical proficiency in digital audio workstations, sound design, MIDI programming, and studio production, while engaging with a broad range of musical genres and production approaches. They are encouraged to reflect critically on their creative identity, evaluate their strengths, refine their workflow, and consider emerging industry practices.

The course integrates applied learning through practical projects, commercial music production, and strategies for monetisation, preparing students to respond effectively to professional demands. Business and branding modules provide essential skills in marketing, self‑promotion, and professional practice. The programme culminates in a final showcase, allowing students to present their work in an industry‑facing context and equipping them for professional careers in music production and audio engineering.

Level 5: Extended Diploma in Music Production (120 credits)

This programme develops advanced proficiency in recording, mixing, mastering, and sound design, preparing students for professional roles within the contemporary music industry. Learners gain specialist expertise in vocal production and innovative workflows, including the application of MIDI programming techniques designed to emulate live instrumentation, while also engaging with strategies for the commercial monetisation of creative work.

Experiential learning is embedded through collaborative projects, live showcases, and industry placements, providing practical exposure to studio production, commercial music, and artist development. In addition, students examine the principles of branding, marketing, and entrepreneurship as a means of ensuring long‑term career sustainability. The curriculum also emphasises self‑care, financial planning, and adaptability to industry change, equipping graduates with the professional and personal skills required to thrive in a competitive global music sector.

There are several pathways available, with a choice of validating universities, depending on your specific skills, needs and goals.

Apply to study at a University in the UK or remotely for a year to complete the BA top-up.  Tuition fees may be higher, and you may need a student visa.

Tuition Fees

£9,535 / $12,000 (USD) / €11,500 per part x 3 – aligned with UK university fees. Payment plans are available, but financial aid or student visas are not.

Schedule

Two semesters, starting in September. Sessions run three days a week, 3 hours per day, with breaks for holidays.

No Academic Prerequisites

No formal education is required, but you’ll need an intermediate level of knowledge in your chosen field. All applicants must complete a phone interview.

USA Students

There is no requirement for General Education, so you are 100% focussed on your subject.  Here’s more information on the differences between the UK and USA systems, and here’s some info on how UK degrees are regarded in the USA.

International Students

Student visas are not available for this programme. However, it’s designed to be flexible: if you wish to study in person, up to 80% can be completed within 180 days, with the remaining 20% delivered online — covering the academic content that’s less reliant on being physically present. This structure allows many students to attend via two 90-day visits on a tourist visa, depending on their nationality and where they wish to study. You can also choose to split your in-person study between two different locations if that suits your schedule or travel plans.
